Recipe Thursday-Fluffy French Toast

Posted on December 9th, 2010 | Posted in Breakfast and Brunch, Recipes

Well, I just moved into a new house and pretty much brought no cooking ingredients with me. So as I tried to figure out what to make for Recipe Thursday I remembered that I had some fresh baked cinnamon raisin bread from Michael’s Bakery, and I could buy the rest of the ingredients from Hometown. So, Fluffy French Toast it is! This recipe was delicious and simple and did add  a nice crispness to the French toast, which I attribute the flour for this.

Grilling French Toast

Fluffy French Toast

Yield 8-12 Slices

1/4 cup all-purpose flour (991867)
1 cup milk (HPH008)
1 pinch salt (CQS030)
3 eggs (EGG011)
1/8 teaspoon ground nutmeg (CQN061)
1/8 teaspoon ground cloves (CQC072)
1 teaspoon vanilla extract (NFC1055)
1 tablespoon white sugar (991842)
8 thick slices cinnamon raisin bread or 12 regular slices of bread
butter (880025)
syrup (991607)

Measure flour into a large mixing bowl. Slowly whisk in the milk. Whisk in the salt, eggs, spices, vanilla extract and sugar until smooth. Heat a lightly buttered griddle or frying pan over medium heat. Soak bread slices in mixture until saturated. Cook bread on each side until golden brown. Serve hot with butter, syrup and fresh fruit. Depending on your preferences you can use cinnamon in place of nutmeg and cloves.

Featured Product-Slice me off a piece: Hickory Smoked Ham

Posted on December 6th, 2010 | Posted in Featured Product

‘Tis the season of large pieces of meat being the center piece of many dining tables. It is being said though that the spiral-cut Holiday ham is a thing of the past. Processors are recognizing the value of creating smaller portions of ham to make them more convenient and, more importantly, appealing year-round. Consumers too enjoy the smaller portions, because they are more manageable and feed as few as two people. As Christmas approaches possibly you would benefit from our Hickory Smoked Old Fashioned Boneless Ham or an 8oz Ham Steak! This Lancaster County Farms’ ham is a comparable ham to a Hatfield or a Kunzler quality ham, but at a more affordable price. This fully cooked hickory smoked ham is perfect to heat up for your Holiday meals, and if by chance you host a smaller party, the leftovers are delicious too!
